Brahms and Elgar: Romantic Masterpieces
and the
World Premiere - Chamber Version of
Visions of Humanity and Unity for America 250

SPOKANE - Classics Northwest announces its first World Premiere of a piece. Visions of Humanity and Unity, during its Sept. 12 and 13 programming. 

The piece will then be performed in orchestral version featuring Zuill Bailey, cello, by Spokane Symphony Orchestra, James Lowe, Music Director on Oct. 3 and 4. This piece is commissioned by a consortium for America 250 that includes Classics Northwest, Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra, Fairbanks Symphony, Long Beach Symphony, South Carolina Philharmonic, Spokane Symphony, El Paso Pro Musica, Mesa Arts Center and the Sitka Music Festival. All performances will feature Zuill Bailey as cello soloist in both the chamber and orchestral versions. 

The first chamber performance is by Classics Northwest.  Composers of the piece are Mark O’Connor, Avner Dorman, Zhou Tien, Enrico Chapela, and Chanda Darcy. 

Guest artists performing for Classics Northwest concerts in September include Yuriy Bekker, violin; Domonic Dousa, piano; Principal Strings from Spokane Symphony Orchestra – Mateusz Wolski, violin; Amanda Howard Phillips, violin; Nick Carper, viola; John Marshall, cello; and cellist Zuill Bailey, Classics Northwest Artistic Director. Bekker is Artistic Director of the Charleston S.C. Symphony and Dousa is a faculty member of the University of Texas at El Paso.

Artistic Director Zuill Bailey, 2017 Triple Grammy Winner, is widely considered one of the premier cellists in the world. His rare combination of celebrated artistry, technical wizardry and engaging personality has secured his place as one of the most sought after and active cellists today. He is praised for his “virtuoso technique, strong, richly expressive tone and bold, individual manner of playing” (Gramophone Magazine.). Bailey, a top selling recording artist, music educator and award-winning musical innovator, is Artistic Director of music festivals in Texas, Alaska, and Arizona as well as Artistic Director of Classics Northwest in Spokane.
